Amble Ridge Care has two Health Care Suites which have been earmarked for Amble Ridge residents or members of the greater Knysna community who need a little extra care after hospitalisation. We are ideally set up for post-operative orthopaedic care with both a physiotherapist practice (Meyer and Snyman Physiotherapy Inc.) and a GP (Dr M.B. Beviss-Challinor) on site. We have two Registered nurses living on the premises and they closely supervise a team of professional care givers, so that each patient receives tailored care and help to regain independence after major surgery.
Nursing care is available 24-hours a day. We encourage patients to continue using their own family doctor whilst with us, and most of the local GPs do house calls for our residents when needed. We do call on the services of outside specialists if needed. Occupational therapy and clinical nutritionists/dieticians can be arranged.
The Health Care Suites are also available to families needing respite care of the elderly, whilst they take a much-needed break, and to those who may need palliative care. We work closely with the Knysna Hospice.
Patients in our Health Care Suites may make use of all Amble Ridge’s world-class facilities, which include a magnificent clubhouse, heated swimming pool, tennis court, croquet lawn, and our renowned onsite restaurant (Sapori Bistro) and hairdresser (Elaine of London).

A few points to consider:
Our daily rate includes 24-hour nursing care and all meals.
Our Health Care Suites are generally only available for short stays (i.e. less than a month). Longer stays will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
A deposit will be required upfront to secure the suite, refundable on discharge. The deposit is calculated as the daily fee relating to half the expected stay, up to a maximum of R15,000.
The daily fee includes more than enough carer time to cover most patient’s caregiving requirements (i.e. bathing/showering, personal grooming, oral hygiene, dressing, keeping dry, care to pressure areas, making beds and going on walks). However, should the patient become confused or need additional one-on-one care, an hourly charge will apply.
Laundry will be done for the patient in the Health Care Suite (Monday – Friday) at no additional cost. Should you wish to, please bring in your own pillows and linen to help you feel more at home.
The daily fee excludes medical and sanitary supplies such as medications, toiletries, incontinence products (nappies, linen savers, gloves, baby wipes), oxygen therapy and nebulisations.
Residents are required to book in after 12h00 on the day of admission and are required to vacate the suite before 12h00 on the day of discharge.
Most medical dietary requirements can be catered for by our kitchen (diabetic diet, soft diets and/or mixed fluids). Should you have specific dietary requirements, please discuss these with the Sister on Duty prior to admission.
We are not registered with Medical Aid at this stage. You will need to settle the account yourself.
